HOME BACKQ6. Why if Y'shua died on a stake the church introduced a pagan symbol as a substitute?A6.If you go back to the Hebrew, the word for pole, wood, stake is "ets" and has only one meaning, tree. There is no word for wood, only tree. He actually died on a tree (if you look at it this way. What does "tree" mean? Tree consists of the two letters "ayin" meaning 'eye' and "tsadi", meaning righteous. He died on a tree to show all people the Way to righteousness. To come back to your question; why the church uses the sign of the 'cross' or better known as the letter that represents 'tammuz', a pagan diety, is a good one. The answer lies in the history of the church and the influence of pagan traditions to blend a 'one religion' system way back in the time of Constantine. That was one of their symbols and it was brought in to be a symbol for Christians as wee so that he could unite both groups under his control. This system to us is better known as New Age where everything is acceptable and they unite under one goal only, namely peace. This was also the tactic of Satan right from the beginning where he used the Word God spoke, and twist it just a little to confuse man and to believe the lie. We all know the result of believing the twisted Word of God; man was separated from God (death means separation in Hebrew) and we are subject to sin that resulted from that. I treat pagan symbols in the same light, they twist the truth and confuse the people and this is part of Satan's plan all along to deceive man and to keep them from being restored back to the Glory they fell from.
